Two

These are two different topics, and should have separate templates. There is no reason to remoe this when there clearly are four articles which are specific outside of the anime material.★Trekker (talk) 19:07, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

No. Why would you ever do that? Two out of three of those films are not even official, they belong on a page specific for film related media, not the general franchise. Why would you ever feel the need to "get rid" of a template when it serves a clear function?

Final draft of the {{Dragon Ball anime}}

@Gonnym:, @Trialpears:, @Dmehus: Per the result of the discussion regarding this template, I worked on a draft in my sandbox of how the {{Dragon Ball anime}} would look like. I incorporated "and films" to the title, and added a "Live action-films" section at the bottom, which includes Evolution and the unofficial films. With this, no article is left out and every topic in both the anime and films topics is linked in this template. Thoughts? --LoЯd ۞pεth 15:21, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

@Lord Opeth:, I'm not sure if I can comment or not since I closed that TfD, perhaps Trialpears can comment/clarify, but since I didn't !vote or express an opinion, it's probably okay. I think this sandboxed merged template looks great. A couple minor suggestions would be maybe to have the films & video categories above the TV series & Web series categories and also to including the Television specials with the TV series & Web series. Basically, in sequence, "Anime films," "Short films," "Direct-to-video," and "Live-action films" followed by the "TV series," "Web series," and "Television specials," but this is more personal preference. Changes to the Template:Dragon Ball anime merged template

Note: This is copied from the holding cell at TfD...hoping everyone can look into the feasibility of adding a "title" parameter and brief documentation page to the merged Template:Dragon Ball anime so *Treker can set a custom title in the merged navbox at Dragon Ball films...

      • The thing is the films are derived from the anime, which in turn is an adaptation of the manga by Toriyama. I think the anime must remain first. --LoЯd ۞pεth 15:50, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
        • Lord Opeth True, and I did think about that being your thesis. It makes sense. I was just thinking if there was some way to alphabetize it, but I don't think that's possible. I wonder, though, if the "Television specials" shouldn't be placed with the "TV series" and "Web series"?     • @Trialpears:, Question: Once the merger is complete, will Dragon Ball films be deleted without leaving behind a redirect? Just making sure I understand the process correctly. Perhaps, for some really commonly and widely used templates, a redirect to the new, merged template is sometimes/often helpful? Doug Mehus T·C 17:25, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
      • Usually they're kept, but sometimes, usually when the redirect doesn't make intuitive sense such as {{Globalize/US}} which was deleted after merging a few months ago. In this case I would keep the redirect, especially to avoid unnecessary and time consuming edits bypassing the redirect. If you want feel free to take it to RfD if you think it should be deleted though. Anyway everything should be done here now that I've checked this didn't result in any duplicate navboxes. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 18:06, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
        • Trialpears Hrm, I kind of disagree that it would be necessary here as I don't think it would be that hard for people to search for the merged template name and just transclude that.         • Trialpears Okay, I've updated the Template:Dragon Ball films transclusions to the merged Template:Dragon Ball anime template, so there are now transclusions of Template:Dragon Ball films. Similarly. There are no transclusions of Template:Dragon Ball Movies, if the closing administrator wanted to delete those as well. --Doug Mehus T·C 18:27, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
          • Apparently, there is another Wikipedian concerned about the name. I think that, as long as the title is "Dragon Ball anime and films", it is pretty described (the actual name of the template should not be a problem). What do you think? --LoЯd ۞pεth 19:00, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
            • Yeah, just talking to *Treker now, so looping him in on the logistical post-merge details. I like the current template name per WP:CONCISE; however, how hard would it be to add a title parameter to this template (and brief documentation) such that he could set a custom title for the navbox?
