Auto-categorize edit
This template should auto-categorize the page on which it is placed into a Category such as Category:Wikipedia Education students, which could be organized as a subcategory of Category:Wikipedian students. (Ditto for {{Outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org welcome}}.) Probably it should check for the User talk namespace, and either skip the categorization, or emit an error if it's not a match. Current sandbox (rev. 990093692) has auto-cat but not namespace checking. Mathglot (talk) 20:11, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
- Mathglot: Maybe the better place to do this would be {{dashboard.wikiedu.org student editor}}. This welcome template gets subst'd (with the idea being to make it behave more similarly to other talk page messages if the student editor tries to reply to it). The `student editor` userpage template wouldn't add mysterious wikitext to the otherwise mostly-intelligible talk section, and it would also be more intuitive in terms of how to 'unmark' yourself as a student (for example if you're continuing to edit after the course ends, and decide to make a more typical customized userpage).--Sage (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:36, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
