Started documentation edit

Hi, I've started documentation in the Template:Coor at dms/doc subpage, as recommended in Wikipedia:Template doc page pattern. Please edit the template:

<span class="plainlinksneverexpand">[{{Coor URL}}{{{1}}}_{{{2}}}_{{{3}}}_{{{4}}}_{{{5}}}_{{{6}}}_{{{7}}}_{{{8}}}_{{{9}}} <span style="white-space:nowrap">{{{1}}}°{{{2}}}′{{{3}}}″{{{4}}},</span> <span style="white-space:nowrap">{{{5}}}°{{{6}}}′{{{7}}}″{{{8}}}</span>]</span><span id="coordinates" class="plainlinksneverexpand">[[Geographic coordinate system|Coordinates]]: [{{Coor URL}}{{{1}}}_{{{2}}}_{{{3}}}_{{{4}}}_{{{5}}}_{{{6}}}_{{{7}}}_{{{8}}}_{{{9}}} <span style="white-space:nowrap">{{{1}}}°{{{2}}}′{{{3}}}″{{{4}}},</span> <span style="white-space:nowrap">{{{5}}}°{{{6}}}′{{{7}}}″{{{8}}}</span>]</span><noinclude>
{{protected template}}
{{{{FULLPAGENAME}}/doc}}
<!-- Add cats and interwikis to the /doc subpage, not here! -->
</noinclude>

New template: coord edit

Please see {{Coord}}, which is intended, after testing, to replace the coor family of templates. These will then be substituted, throughout Wikipedia, by bot. All functionality is retained. Andy Mabbett 07:55, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

updates edit

{{editprotected}}

Please undo the recent addition of HTML classes "geo", "latitude" and "longitude"; the Geo microformat (which these comprise) does not work for DMS; only decimal values. Thank you. (Note that {[tl|coord}} provides Geo microformat output from DMS input) Andy Mabbett 13:25, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I tested before and it worked fine here: {{coor at dms/test|46|32|24|N|8|41|21|E|type:waterbody_region:CH-TI}}. Plz double-check and re-add. -- User:Docu

In fact, it works in the fire fox extension, but isn't compliant with http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2426.txt. -- User:Docu
It may work in a given application, but it is not guaranteed to work in any other; and the Geo specification is quite unequivocal - decimal values only. Andy Mabbett 18:33, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Redirect edit

There are now no live instances of this deprecated template. Please redirect it to its more highly-featured replacement, Template:Coord. Thank you. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 19:32, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
