Auto add url edit

The url for the gazette website for 1836 to 1997 appears to follow a simple formula "http://gazette.slv.vic.gov.au/view.cgi?year= {{{year}}} &class=general&page_num={{{page}}}". I think a useful change to the template would be to have it automatically add the url. The code would be

|url={{#if: {{{url|}}}|{{{url}}}|http://gazette.slv.vic.gov.au/view.cgi?year={{{year|}}}&class=general&page_num={{{page|}}}}}
|page={{{year}}}:{{{page}}}

As the year and the page are already included as "years:page" & there are only 20 pages currently using the template, I am happy to manually change the pages currently using it to separate the year & page. What I have yet to figure out is the #if statement to limit it to pre 1997 gazettes. Find bruce (talk) 10:33, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ok I have added it to the template & am now in the process of manual changes. Find bruce (talk) 12:34, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Including year in the page parameter edit

Is it necessary to include the year with the page. I dont see it relevant with newer issues of the Gazette but even with the older ones, I don't find it necessary when the date is also included. // GMH Melbourne (talk) 14:19, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
