New Depth Chart Template edit

I created this template as a faster and easier way for making the graphical depth charts for college football teams. I wrote it specifically for the 1981 Clemson Tigers article, so it is initially setup for a 5-2 defense and option offense. I am working on programming the tables to support several other offensive and defensive schemes (3-4, 4-3, Run & Shoot, Power-I, etc).--CobraGeek The Geek 17:06, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is it possible to split up the offense from defense, into separate templates? I am trying to create one of these for The Electric Company (ie. offense only), but I can't figure out how to make the defense invisible. This might also be useful for notable offensive/defensive units, such as the Fearsome Foursome, No-Name Defense, Greatest Show on Turf, etc. Thank you. All pages using this getting included in category edit

I'm sorely tempted to make the category link a "noinclude". Is there any reason to add this category to every page that uses the template? DeFaultRyan 15:59, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Go ahead and make it a "noinclude". The reason that I left it outside of noinclude tags is so that I could easily track the list of articles that still needed their adhoc table templates updated to the new template. Since I have updated all but one, the lack of noinclude tags has served its purpose. Cheers! --CobraGeek The Geek 16:06, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Link to dab Safety (American football) edit

The template, for the "Safety", "S", or "S Starter" position (whatever it's called—you get the point) links to the disambiguation page "Safety (American football)", or at least it does here, when it should link to Safety (American football position). As a result of an RfC, Safety (American football) was moved to Safety (American football position), and Safety (football score) was moved to Safety (American football score). I'm not familiar enough with the code to change the link in the template, could someone else? –dffgd 15:46, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Footnotes don't contain reference info edit

The footnotes created by this template in 2012 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football team (and in this template's documentation) don't contain the text from the reference. In fact, they don't contain any text at all. Could someone please update the template so the reference text is displayed properly? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 02:56, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Even when I changed the references to match the format in the template documentation in these edits, the reference text was not displayed. Please help! GoingBatty (talk) 13:28, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Also noticed that the example on Template:CFB Team Depth Chart/doc doesn't display the text in the references. Is there anyone that can help? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 23:05, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Technical 13: - I appreciate your assistance. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have changed to references on these pages.  :-( GoingBatty (talk) 04:43, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
GoingBatty, hrmm. Okay, than I guess I didn't understand the question correctly. Could you give me some more details as to what the expected versus actual result is from the template? Show me using an example, and I'll take another poke at it. :) Technical 13 (talk) 12:25, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I've taken another poke at it. I've changed the way the ref parameters work... |DefenceRef= and |OffenseRef= now require the use of <ref>...</ref> and allow use of <ref name="foo">...</ref> and <ref name="foo" />. I've also added |DefenceRefRAW= and |OffenseRefRAW= which allow for the references to be added without wrapping in <ref>...</ref> (actually, it's required that they are not), but will only work if |DefenceRef= and |OffenseRef= don't exist respectively. I hope that is not too confusing and I'm going to try and update the template documentation as well. Happy editing Technical 13 (talk) 12:55, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Technical 13: - The articles look great now - thanks! For some reason, the references aren't displayed on Template:CFB Team Depth Chart/doc, even though it contains a <references/> tag. GoingBatty (talk) 15:06, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
GoingBatty That is because the example wasn't using the parameters correctly... I've fixed it to show one of each... Technical 13 (talk) 16:14, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much for all your help! GoingBatty (talk) 16:40, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 2 June 2022 edit

Please Add under values accepted a 4-1 defense scheme. * 4-1. 2601:648:8105:46B0:595:EC86:9313:883 (talk) 04:34, 2 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Aaron Liu (talk) 12:33, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Misuse of en dash rather than hyphen edit

I came across an issue after looking into this issue at the Help Desk. Doing some basic searching there appears to be at least 42 other articles using 43 (with an en dash) rather than 4-3 (with a hyphen) in |DScheme=, and so have tables that don't display correctly. I have looked into the other articles with other formations, but I would guess they are similarly effected. Some, as with the issue at Help Desk, may have been setup incorrectly. But I checked and couple of others and they were corrected using AWB to a broken state. The issue is that editors in good faith are going to change hyphens to en dashes between numbers. Could this template be changed to accept either hyphens or en dashes, so whatever the setup the table displays correctly? -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmissions °co-ords° 21:38, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Just in case anyone ever comes across this, this issue was fixed in December 2023 by this edit. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 22:52, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
