Template talk:Bot block message

Old, analyzed:
Hello, I'm sorry, don't apologize for doing your job
but I've had to no you didn't. You could have ignored. Don't try to duck responsibility
block your bot because it was misbehaving. not necessarily -- editor(s) just think it's misbehaving ... they could be wrong. We're just stopping the bot while we figure it out
Remember that I'm not implying any wrongdoing on your part. When the bot's fixed, let me know and I'll unblock it, or leave a note at WP:AN this is okay, but could be shorter NE Ent 14:11, 17 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Copying some comments from [1]:

Instead of having a flag to say that the operator is an admin and may unblock (as opposed to contacting the blocking admin or a noticeboard), I suggest that there be a flag to say that unblocking is at the sole discretion of the bot operator. With this flag, admin operators can unblock their own bot (uncontroversially), and non-admins can post an uncontroversial unblock request. The flag would be used when there is no reason to believe that the operator would allow the errors to continue. This allows the blocking admin to disclaim ownership of the block, reduces unnecessary drama on noticeboards, and levels the playing field slightly between admins and non-admins. My suggestion was aimed at helping anyone who might otherwise question the subsequent unblock. I don't think anyone was arguing that a template would supplant the need to explain the specific problems with the bot behaviour. Bovlb (talk) 00:52, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
