I suppose this is straightforward but it apparently isn't (LOL).
- A is for tournaments where the qualifying teams all advance to a further round with identical conditions. For example, all 4 teams qualify to the semifinals and all teams reset to zero wins, such as the aforementioned FIFA World Cup where all teams have the same number of wins to win the cup.
