Usage edit

This template is for creating a properly-formatted reference citation to Victor Stein & Paul Rubino's The Billiard Encyclopedia, 3rd ed., fairly frequently cited in cue sports articles (see WikiProject Cue sports for more information). It is almost always used between <ref name="Stein & Rubino 2008"> and </ref>.

If you need to cite the same source in the same article more than once, use <ref name="Stein & Rubino 2008" /> for the subsequent citations.

This template cannot be subst'd, unless this is done before it is put inside <ref...></ref> (due to a bug in the <ref> and <references /> system). There is no reason to subst it anyway, and doing so will produce messy results.

Page numbering edit

See {{rp}} if a page number is needed in subsequent citations using the <ref name="Stein & Rubino 2008" /> notation.

Otherwise, simply add the page number(s) as a parameter, singular or plural:

|page=247

|pages=247–251

("p." or "pp." will be inserted automatically).

Example:

Article text.<ref name="Stein & Rubino 2008">{{Stein & Rubino 2008|pages=23–24}}</ref>

Produces:

Article text.[1]
...

Quote edit

To add a short direct quotation, use the quote parameter:

|quote=[I]nterest generated by these touring professionals was not only for the exciting competition and sport they provided, but for the introduction of new developments in the game and equipment

(quotation marks will be added automatically, while beginning capitalization and a terminal period (full stop) are not auto-included).
