Use this template to search source wikilinks, similar to User:PrimeHunter/Source links.js, but unlike Special:WhatLinksHere which includes template-generated links.

Usage edit

{{source links|pagename}}

This displays a search link for pages which link pagename directly in their own source text with wikilink syntax [[...]].

Example edit

{{source links|971 (number)}} produces Source links with three articles as of 2022.

Special:WhatLinksHere/971 (number) shows around 350 other articles which only contain a link to 971 (number) because they display Template:Integers. WhatLinksHere cannot exclude these articles. The checkbox "Hide transclusions" only hides pages which transclude content from the article 971 (number), and no pages do that. Transclusion is intended for templates and very rarely used on articles.

All template-generated links are omitted, also if the page name is partially or fully in the source text without link syntax. For example. {{sortname|John|Doe}} produces the link John Doe. This link will not be found by {{source links|John Doe}}. If a page has both a source link like [[John Doe]] and a template-generated link then the page is found. Piped links like [[John Doe|J. Doe]] and section links like [[John Doe#Early life]] are also found.
