Purpose edit

For a biography article of an individual who has authored plant names, to link to the list of plant names the author has described as a botanical authority at the International Plant Names Index (IPNI).

Usage edit

Code

The template uses the standard author abbreviation as the first parameter

{{plantlist|''author abbreviation''}}

Example: {{plantlist|L.}} where L. is the standard author abbreviation for Linnaeus.

The template, which is in the form of a Citation, may be used in a number of ways;

  1. As an inline citation. For instance in a Legacy section, it could be used as the citation for the statement that "The International Plant Names Index lists over n taxa named by her/him." This may take one of two forms (see References);-
    1. Using <ref> tags, e.g. <ref>{{plantlist|author abbreviation}}</ref>[1] to generate the output under References
    2. As a short footnote of the form {{sfn|Plantlist|2016}}, when the template is placed in the Bibliography. This will generate Plantlist 2016 in References, linked to the Bibliography. This displays as a reference number[2]
  2. As a link in External links
Appearance

The template returns the statement: IPNI. List of plant names with authority author abbreviation

Example
{{plantlist|L.}}
