Hildebrandt's Starling
Hildebrandt's Starling is a species of starling named for Johannes Hildebrandt, a German collector who was the first European to obtain specimens. It is found in Kenya and Tanzania, where it occupies open woodland and open thornbrush country between 500 and 2,200 m (1,600 and 7,200 ft). Male and female adults appear identical, both having bright iridescent blue plumage on the upper body and upper surfaces with an orange-buff to rufous breast and belly. The juveniles are quite different, with charcoal grey upperparts and chestnut brown lowerparts.Photo: Noel Feans
