Willie Louis edit

Created by Cbl62 (talk). Self nominated at 17:23, 2 August 2013 (UTC).

  • Note: I'm technically 17 hours late in submitting this. I was called out of town on an emergency over the last several days and was not able to nominate until now. I ask the 17 hour tardiness be excused. And Mr. Louis is a particularly interesting person Will complete QPQ later today when I get home. Cbl62 (talk) 17:26, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Moving article! Good sources, offline sources accepted AGF. Article: I wonder about the use of the two names Reed and Louis, would probably call him Reed in the narration until he changes his name, and explain that in the lead. Hook: I think mentioning "14 -year old" would make it even more moving. I fixed a typo. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:53, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
I modified the hook a bit per your suggestion. I will modify the naming regimen per your suggestion. I've not been clear on how to handle name-changes like this. Cbl62 (talk) 21:24, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! Perhaps ask someone about the name thing. I never had a case like that, but can ask some friends also. You will need to split the long hook in two alternatives, - the whole thing is too long, for example:
ALT1: ... that Willie Louis has been called a hero of the Civil Rights Movement for testifying in 1955 against two white men accused of murdering 14-year-old Emmett Till?
ALT2: ... that Willie Reed testified in 1955 against two white men accused of murdering 14-year-old Emmett Till for whistling at a white woman? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm fine with any of them. Cbl62 (talk) 16:19, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
I like them in order ALT2, ALT1, original, but leave it to the prep builder, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:52, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment. The original hook is within 200 characters but I agree with the split. I prefer ALT1 because it asserts notability by drawing the relation with Civil Rights Movement right away. It's more alluring for readers to find out the nature of the crime and the testimony later. Alex ShihTalk 02:06, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
