William Barnes (entomologist) edit

  • ... that at the death of William Barnes in 1930, his collection of butterflies was regarded as the largest and finest in the world with possibly 10,000 species and an estimated 473,000 specimens? It is also the largest collection by number of specimens in the history of the Smithsonian Institution. [1]

  • Hi Pvmoutside. Unfortunately the article is not currently well enough referenced to qualify to DYK - there needs to be an inline citation at the end of each paragraph as a minimum. If you can improve this, drop me a line and I will pop back to complete the review. Thanks - Dumelow (talk) 06:55, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
  • Comment: Sourcing aside, the hook is far too long and cumbersome. Hooks should be concise! Everything after "finest in the world" should be dropped. --Animalparty! (talk) 06:26, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

@Pvmoutside, Dumelow, and Animalparty: How's that? I wanted to include the "largest in the world" wording but I found it hard to do while adhering to the 200 character limit. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 04:03, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi Narutolovehinata5. Your proposed hook reads well enough to me but the article is still well under referenced and hasn't been worked on by the nominator since the start of June - Dumelow (talk) 07:32, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
