Wildlife of Canada
- ... that the wildlife of Canada consist of over 80,000 classified species, with an equal number yet to be recognized? Source: "The new estimate indicates that there are about 80,000 known species in Canada, excluding viruses and bacteria". - "Scientists believe 70,000 to 80,000 plant and animal species occupy the landmass, and an equal number have yet to be discovered".

My prose counting script shows an expansion from 663 words to 1405 words. That's not 5x as required by the DYK rules, and the article didn't just pass GA, so... am I missing something? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:15, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- Completely rewritten from this point from15,129 bytes (564) to 34,758 bytes (1,399) ...had no clue how to measure word count till now....my bad did not realize it was just about the amount of content added over actual article improvement...o well not willing to jam article with junk text just for word count. Feel free to close this

- Moxy, Piotrus, DYK goes by prose characters, not bytes or words. Prior to Moxy's expansion beginning on 25 December, the article had 4384 prose characters; it has 9534 prose characters now, a little over twice its original length, which is simply not enough. (It would need to be 21920 prose characters to attain a fivefold expansion, which would require adding over twice again what's already been added.) If at some point the article gains Good Article status, it can be nominated again as long as it's within seven days of being listed as a GA. Sorry for the bad news. - Next time will blank article so that it's clear it was redone from scratch as the article was rewritten since Dec 6th with all new text.Moxy 🍁 15:45, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, Moxy. Note that blanking an article would not make any difference at all. Please see Rule A4: "Fivefold expansion is calculated from the previously existing article, no matter how bad it was ... no matter whether you kept any of it".
