Violin Sonata No. 1 (Saint-Saëns)

  • ... that Camille Saint-Saëns called his First Violin Sonata his "hippogriff sonata", suggesting that its technical demands could only be met by a legendary creature? Source: "'They will call it ‘the hippogriff-sonata’', said Saint-Saëns, suggesting that only a mythological creature would be able to master the movement’s great technical demands" [1]

  • Article was new and long enough at the time of the nomination. No close paraphrasing was found. I'm assuming good faith on the offline sources, although the footnote needs to be repeated after "hippogriff sonata" for DYK verification purposes. QPQ still pending. The main issue here is that the "legendary creature" wording is not mentioned anywhere in the article, only that the piece could only be performed by "extraordinary violinists". QPQ now done. I've clarified the bit on the "legendary creature" in the article. The source is quite explicit on that. Thanks for the review. intforce (talk) 13:35, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
@Intforce: Thanks; however the references still need duplication per DYK rules. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 08:41, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: What do you mean by duplication? intforce (talk) 11:53, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
@Intforce: The reference that's used to cite the hook facts must be repeated after the sentences where the hook facts are mentioned. In this case, in paragraph 1 of the Legacy section, references should be repeated after the sentence that ends with "hippogriff sonata". Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:04, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
The next sentence ("He was convinced that "its moment of glory has begun" and that "all the violinists will seize on it, from one end of the earth to the other") is part of the same citation though, in both cited sources. intforce (talk) 12:56, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
@Intforce: Per DYK rules, this is not sufficient. Each fact in the hook must be supported in the article by at least one inline citation to a reliable source, appearing no later than the end of the sentence(s) offering that fact. Citations at the end of the paragraph are not sufficient. This rule applies even when a citation would not be required for the purposes of the article. I see. I have added the duplicated reference. intforce (talk) 13:08, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
