Vetiveria nigritana
edit- ... that the perennial grass Vetiveria nigritana is grown in farms in Africa to prevent soil erosion, provide pest control, and improve the yield of crops such as maize?
Created by Jeglinsk (talk). Nominated by PFHLai (talk) at 03:48, 8 December 2013 (UTC).
- Created on 5 December, meets prose size criterion. The statement of the hook is cited. Now, one article that has been used for the hook, Babalola et al. (2007), is not free access. So, you may consider adding a "subscription needed" template to that citation (and any other citations that are not free access), although this is not a must. Also, the creator of the article is new to DYK, and the nominator of the DYK did not really contribute to the article significantly. Hence, QPQ is not needed. So, the DYK is good to go.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:49, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- Nomination needs final approval. Review does not mention checking for neutrality or for close paraphrasing, so these checks should probably be done. Note that if hook fact is not freely accessible, then AGF tick should be used in approval. BlueMoonset (talk) 07:05, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have access to all the non-free sources and have reviewed accordingly. No close paraphrasing -- the wording is a good and original synthesis of the sources cited. Neutrality is good as well -- a lot of the sources are journal articles by the same group of researchers in Nigeria, but they're probably the global experts, and other sources are also cited. One thing I would take issue with in the hook is that the tests all seem to have been done specifically in Nigeria (not elsewhere in Africa), so I would prefer the following (incorporating a few other tweaks):

- Good point, Kieran. Thanks for the tweaking of the hook. Perhaps "[[Agriculture in Nigeria|farms in Nigeria]]" may be useful? --PFHLai (talk) 05:10, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
