Vera Songwe edit

  • ... that Vera Songwe, an economist, went to school in Cameroon, Belgium, and the United States, and worked for the World Bank from 1998 to 2015?

Created by Drmies (talk). Self-nominated at 17:50, 15 January 2016 (UTC).

  • @Drmies: The article is new enough and barely long enough, and some citations need cleanup. Two maintenance tags are a problem. Article looks neutral to me. I trust that "operations manager" is the same thing as "country director"? Sourcing otherwise looks reliable enough for a BLP and the article text matches the sources. No evidence of plagiarism, copyright wise some of the French text resembles our article text rather closely but I suspect it'd be a case of WP:LIMITED anyhow. Hook is rather plain, short enough, sourced in-line and does not focus on some negative aspect. QPQ still waiting. In short, needs some minor fixes but other than that it's good.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:02, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
  • Jo-Jo Eumerus please do me a favor and write a better hook! Yes, that operations manager thing, she was called that in another source and I just inserted that reference. The maintenance tags, I can't help that, but Sadads fixed it by sleight of hand. The QPQ is done. Drmies (talk) 05:26, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
@Drmies: something like "Vera Songwe in 2013 has been called by Forbes one of Africa's Young Power Women?" ?Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:05, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
  • Yeah...I suppose...but what I was trying to capture was her as a globetrotter. BTW, I tweaked the hook a little bit; her new job is not related to the World Bank, apparently. Drmies (talk) 14:58, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
  • OK, one month late. After spotchecking the additional edits, seems like it's ready ... except that I have no idea 'bout a globetrotting hook, @Drmies:.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:18, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
  • This nomination really needs a new hook, as the original one was shot down. Either the nominator himself or a fellow contributor has to provide one, otherwise there will unfortunately be no path going forward for this particular nomination.—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 10:14, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
  • BlueMoonset, just run it with the original hook. Sorry I missed the ping last week; I was probably busy enabling abuse admins. Speaking of which... Drmies (talk) 02:19, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Jo-Jo Eumerus, it looks like it's up to you to finish your review; given the above response, no other hook is forthcoming. Unless, of course, you did indeed shoot down the original hook, in which case tell us that and a new hook will have to be found or this is dead in the water. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:16, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Rosiestep, this article was prompted by you in the first place. Do you have a better idea for a hook? I really don't want to go for the obvious "black woman" inclusion in the hook, which strikes me as in poor taste. Any globetrotting thoughts? She had a pretty exciting career so far--for a finance person. Drmies (talk) 03:54, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
  • How about ALT1: ... that in 2013, Forbes listed Vera Songwe as one of the "20 Young Power Women in Africa"? --Rosiestep (talk) 04:55, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
Seems fine for me in terms of hook rule compliance and also in interest factor. Seeing as the issues in my first review have been addressed and no significant changes since my second one have happened, I can give the go ahead if Drmies is fine with that.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 13:17, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Given the topic, the last thing I should do is claim ownership. Let's let BlueMoonset pick, and I will be happy with their choice. Thank you all, Drmies (talk) 15:23, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
  • I prefer ALT1, which I find more peppy, and I can confirm that the fact appears in the article and that I have checked the source as well. Jo-Jo Eumerus, as reviewer, should do the final tick if appropriate; I'd have to redo the entire review before I could put a tick myself. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:09, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
