Tokatliyan Hotels edit

Tokatliyan Hotel branch in Pera (today's Beyoglu)

  • ... that the Tokatliyan Hotels (pictured) are considered one of the first European-style hotels to be built in Turkey?
ALT1: ... that one of the first Hotels (pictured) in Turkey was built by an ethnic Armenian?
ALT2: ... that the Tokatliyan Hotels (pictured) were Atatürk's favorite hotels?

  • Date, size, image copyright are OK. An interesting article, but given the nom's many DYK submissions over the past few weeks, a QPQ review is in order, and there are a few problems with the article itself: a) why exactly should http://www.turizminsesi.com be regarded as a WP:RS? b) per supplementary rule D2, there should be a reference for the last paragraph on the Pera hotel and in the "Legacy" paragraph, c) the reference link for "Atatürk's favorite hotel" is wrong (it should be this instead of this), d) the Hurriyet article says that the Tarabya hotel was burned down at the turn of the 20th century, not in 1954. Which one is correct? On the hook, a) the "first hotels" quote is rather dubious given that the Pera Palace was built in 1892, b) you should include "(Pera branch pictured)" in the hook to refer to the attached image, and c) IMO it would be better to change "Turkey" to "Ottoman Empire", or simply "Istanbul" since I find it hard to believe that there were no European-style hotels in some of the more Europeanized Ottoman cities, say Thessaloniki. You might want to use the "Atatürk's favorite hotel" bit since it is rather more reliably referenced, or that it ranked right behind the Pera Palace. Constantine 15:04, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
  • QPQ done, but there are still problems with the article regarding referencing. Constantine 12:12, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
  • The Tarabya branch definitely burnt down on April 19, 1954 as many sources confirm this. I believe Hurriyet didn't put much thought as to when it burnt down. Also Turizminsesi is a reliable source since it is a news source specifically made for travel. Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:52, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Hmmm, OK. I've also fixed the link for Hürriyet's Atatürk article myself and tweaked the hooks a bit. The only thing that remains is a ref for its current use, and it will be ready to go. Constantine 21:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

All right then. Good to go. Constantine 12:03, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
