The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ireland edit

  • Comment: If anyone would like to contribute a better hook, please do. This article just has a lot of information in it and I wasn't sure what would really be considered "hooky."

  • Hi Yoninah, thank you for your copyedits and review. I've expanded the lead section a bit, and I added citations for the statistics in the table--the total is around 8,786, but I wasn't able to find more current data on Northern Ireland's members. Some material was copied from the UK page like you mentioned. Amgisseman moved a bunch of the information from the UK page to the England page, and it's possible that in the process, she moved it from the UK page, to the England page, and back to the Ireland page (though I don't see that in the history). I made a request to move the history, but they said it wasn't possible, since all the pages in question had been edited after the copy and pasting. I like your ALT1. Does the page hold up to DYK standards now?
  • Thank you, @Rachel Helps (BYU):, for the fantastic job you did on the lead. It looks like a respectable article now. Regarding the copied text, I've checked the England and UK pages and do not see so much about Ireland there; I'm going to assume that the 590 characters was all that was copied (verbatim), and since this article is well over 2950 characters (5 times 590), the expansion requirement is satisfied. Regarding your hook (and the chart), it doesn't look right to take figures that are 13 years apart and combine them to come up with a total number of Mormons in Ireland. For all we know, the Northern Ireland membership might have gone down. I'm going to suggest another hook, but it needs an inline cite for the fact that there are no LDS temples in Ireland and Ireland is served by English temples (last sentence of lead):
  • ALT2: ... that Mormons in Ireland belong to LDS temples in England? -- If you can make this hookier, please do. Yoninah (talk) 19:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
  • @Rachel Helps (BYU): thank you for your quick answer. I really like ALT3, much more colorful than my idea. And because you suggested it, I can approve it! I've also taken the liberty of adding you to the DYK creation credits. Here is a full review: 5x expansion verified. New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen in online sources. Offline ALT3 hook ref AGF and cited inline. QPQ done. ALT3 good to go.
