Stanley Woodward (editor) edit

Created by Giants2008 (talk). Self-nominated at 00:33, 20 May 2018 (UTC).

  • Created today so new enough. Copyvio, NPOV, and length all check out. No image. QPQ done. Source is a book published by University of Pennsylvania Press which is RS and inline cited. Chetsford (talk) 04:56, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but did not find evidence of notability in the lead. I made an edit there, and you may want to add more. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:12, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Added a sentence on his induction into a Hall of Fame in the sports media field, which should be valid as a "well-known and significant award or honor" for the purpose of notability. Giants2008 (Talk) 21:27, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Giants2008, the lead looks much better now. Restoring tick per Chetsford's review. Yoninah (talk) 10:15, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Giants2008 I just have one question about the hook. The article, cited to an offline source, states that his is the "first known public use" of the phrase, but that an Associated Press writer was the first to write it. Perhaps we should rephrase the hook:
  • ALT0a: ... that Stanley Woodward is often credited as the first writer to use the phrase "ivy" in regard to future Ivy League universities? Yoninah (talk) 10:18, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
  • I can live with the new hook, but Woodward did write the phrase "ivy" in a column, as the article says. The AP writer was the first to use the phrase "Ivy League" itself. Giants2008 (Talk) 13:15, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Oh. That wasn't clear to me (now it is). Striking ALT hook. Yoninah (talk) 13:23, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
