Shawshank tree edit

  • ALT1:... that in 2011 the iconic white oak from The Shawshank Redemption was struck by lightning, split in half, and survived another 5 years?
  • Comment: This is my first DYK nomination so please pardon any mistakes. I've read the rules and info and I believe the article qualifies. Not including an image because the only available image I found locate was not the best quality when cropped.

  • The article was created on 24 July so is new enough and is also long enough. The hook is supported by two reliable sources and has no neutrality issues. The hook is interesting enough, especially to fans of the film. First nomination by the user so is QPQ exempt. I would personally go for the original hook, which is more concise, but the choice is the nominators. Kosack (talk) 16:46, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
@Kosack: Thank you! I enjoyed this and will try to contribute to DYK more in the future. I prefer the original hook as well. EvergreenFir (talk) 17:30, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
