Sato Project

  • ... that Christina Beckles the founder of Sato Project had a "dog allergy requiring weekly injections" while coordinating flights for stray dogs from Puerto Rico to the mainland U.S. for adoption in 2012? Source: [1]

    • ALT2:... that Christina Beckles, the founder of Sato Project, who coordinates travel of stray dogs from Puerto Rico to the mainland U.S. for adoption, has a "dog allergy requiring weekly injections"? Source: [3]The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 16:56, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
  • I greatly prefer ALT1 over the first hook which is a bit grammatically overloaded. Article is long enough and was nominated three days after creation. Article content is well-referenced, stable, and neutrally phrased. Hook is succinct enough, deliciously ironic, and cited to an RS with inline citation in the article. It looks like this is your first DYK, or one of your first, despite the fact you've created a lot of articles, so no QPQ necessary, but please consider reviewing another article. Image is appropriately licensed and used in article. My only misgiving is the image caption which is long for the front page and gives way more detail than is necessary. Image captions are normally noun phrases rather than sentences. The caption could be as simple as "a 'sato' dog". If this is resolved, I'll approve this nomination. • @MartinPoulter: Thanks for reviewing this. It is my first DYK nomination. I updated the caption per your suggestion. I thought the dog allergy was pretty ironic too. Is it okay now?The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 15:26, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
  • Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. Both hooks need correction. --evrik (talk) 15:42, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
  • @Evrik: I did make a change to distinguish it with "mainland US". I updated both. Thank you. The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 16:56, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
@The Eloquent Peasant: Thanks both. I slightly prefer ALT2 but I've noticed another issue before it can be approved. Wikipedia:Did you know/Onepage says there needs to be a reference in the hook, in italics, to the image; e.g. (pictured). To be honest, I question whether this hook needs an image, although the image strictly meets the criteria of being free content used in the article. I also note that elsewhere DYKs with images are being passed without (pictured). Images in DYK are usually used for individuals or for examples of a very defined type and "mongrel dog" seems an odd concept to illustrate visually. But I'm open to what others think. • In that case, this DYK is good to go with, as stated, a preference for ALT2. User:The Eloquent Peasant, it's clear from your user page you do a lot of good work creating interesting new articles for Wikipedia and I hope to see you nominating for DYK many more times in future. • @MartinPoulter: I'll be on the lookout for a next opportunity to nominate an article - now that I finally learned how to. Have a nice day. The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 14:49, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, and added a "citation needed" tag to one paragraph per Rule D2. The sentence that includes the hook fact (the second sentence under History) also needs an inline cite per WP:DYK#Eligibility criteria 3. Cited hook. Yoninah (talk) 23:25, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Restoring tick per MartinPoulter's review. Yoninah (talk) 00:52, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
