edit- ... that Rufus P. Turner, who created some of the first transistor radios, became an English professor at age 52?

- I created this nomination within the 5-day span, but forgot to transclude the template. Oops. I think the guy is absolutely fascinating but if anyone could suggest a better hook I'd be grateful. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 00:49, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- DYK check doesn't think it's a 5x expansion. Prior to expansion, it was 661 characters. After, it's 3574 characters, which is 5.4x. I think DYK check doesn't agree because of this IP edit, which I wouldn't count for content. Article is well sourced. Hook issue - the article says he was born in 1907 and became an English professor in 1960. The source backs up the 1960 fact. We can revise the hook to say age 53 if you wish. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:00, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I nominated it based on the before-after of my edits. The age is my mistake; do note that it would be 52 not 53 because he was born just before the end of the year and was thus 52 years old for about 98% of 1960. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 17:03, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
