Pumpkin queen

5x expanded by Lightburst (talk). Self-nominated at 14:22, 23 October 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Pumpkin queen; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - n
  • Interesting: No - n
QPQ: Done.

Overall: While DYK checker would say it wasn't 5x expanded, the article before the nominator's work was basically a list of festivals, and the prose of the article has been greatly expanded to meet this requirement.
The source for ALT0 is from 1981, so there is no verification that they are still selecting a Miss Pumpkin Seed. The source for ALT1 states the "Circleville Pumpkin Show is the oldest and largest food festival in Ohio" but I could not find where it says that it is the oldest pumpkin show with a Miss Pumpkin contest specifically. These hooks and the article should be edited to reflect the information in the sources. Z1720 (talk) 01:10, 28 October 2023 (UTC)

@Z1720: Thanks for the review. Good job on the review. We can try a new ALT?
ALT1a: ... that the Circleville Pumpkin Show is the oldest pumpkin show in the US and they have been selecting a Miss Pumpkin since 1933? This source in the Circleville Herald: Eleanor was the second Miss Pumpkin Show Queen crowned on October 22, 1934 And this source is a primary. Lightburst (talk) 01:41, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
ALT1b: ... that the Circleville Pumpkin Show, the oldest pumpkin show in the US, has been selecting a Miss Pumpkin since 1933?
Proposed hook above to tighten up the language. @Lightburst: Let me know what you think. Z1720 (talk) 02:01, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
