Priscilla Nzimiro edit

Created by Stanleytux (talk). Self-nominated at 18:19, 2 July 2016 (UTC).

  • The non-free file page needs a license tag, and the article, and I'm pretty sure you have to review another article before nominating one. Also, the hook would be much better if it said Nzimiro was the first doctor from Eastern Region, Nigeria, not specifically Port Harcourt (although that is technically true). Otherwise, the article is new and long, is well-written, cited with reliable sources, and no copyvios are likely according to a check. editorEهեইдအ😎 20:50, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
  • User:EditorE, thanks for your message, edited the hook, to show that Port Harcourt was part of the Eastern Region, Nigeria at the time she was born. Also included a license tag to the image in the article. As for review, would love to but the rule says editors who haven't made up to five DYK nominations, shouldn't review yet. • Why EditorE? she was born in Port Harcourt, a city that currently exists which was a part of the Eastern Region of Nigeria that is already defunct. Don't understand why we should take away the living part and leave the dead part, that fact from the dyk, when it is the best part of the dyk. Also, Priscilla Nzimiro's father was Port Harcourt first mayor. That's another Dyk for another day. Stanleytux (talk) 00:07, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
  • I'm not saying to just "take away the living part and leave the dead part" and I'm not putting her father in my point. I'm saying that the article saids "She was the first woman from the Eastern Region, Nigeria to graduate as a medical doctor," and that the DYK hook is more general and stronger if we say she was the first doctor from a BIGGER PLACE than if we say she was the first doctor from a smaller part of that place. editorEهեইдအ😎 01:02, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Hello Editor, hope this is not too late, I found out that what really existed as a region during her birth until her death was Igboland and not the Eastern Region, can this mistake be corrected? Stanleytux (talk) 02:03, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Hello @EditorE:, I'm still waiting for your response. The Eastern Region, Nigeria was created during 1960. Nzimiro died 10 years before that. However, Eastern Region, Nigeria was created from Igboland, which Nzimiro was a part of. This fact is already covered in the sources, hence, hoping that this correction will be made before this Dyk hits frontpage to avoid complications. Stanleytux (talk) 07:25, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Sorry for such a late response. You can change the hook if you want, just make it another ALT. The article's still passed for DYK. :) editorEهեইдအ😎 08:04, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
  • The hooks are not accurate. The source cited merely states "she was the first woman doctor to work in the Igbo region of Nigeria", so a new hook is needed. (@Stanleytux: - you have misinterpreted the DYK rules; anyone is allowed to do reviews, but someone with five or more DYKs is required to do one for each article he nominates). Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:19, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Hi @Cwmhiraeth:, the hooks were actually derived from the two book sources Igbo Women and Economic Transformation in Southeastern Nigeria, 1900-1960 and Gender, culture and development : essays in honour of Hon. Dame Victoria N. Akanwa. Thanks for your clarification on the Dyk guidelines. It is only her university website that says she worked in Nigeria. Stanleytux (talk) 06:22, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
In that case, you need to add some extra citations for the part of the sentence "... and became the first woman from Igboland to qualify as a medical doctor." Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:36, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
Extra citations added, @Cwmhiraeth:. Thanks.
