Preparing for a Fancy Dress Ball

  • Comment: This makes a virtue of the fact that DYK thumbnails are so small it's not immediately clear what they depict, as hopefully readers will think "surely not" and click-through to read it. The artist (William Etty) is intentionally not in the hook, as his article is in an awful state at present and shouldn't really be linked from the Main Page.

  • New enough, most certainly long enough. The earwig checker flags it as highly likely to be a copyvio[1] but this is not the case - the redflags are all keywords/phrases that can't be avoided and are frequently repeated. I note that this article was nominated here on the 12th listed as a Feature Article candidate the very next day - where it is already receiving support votes. Nothing wrong with that but WP:NORUSH does come to mind... It's a cleverly worded, if titilating, hook. The sources for it I'll take on good faith as they're in books or behind paywalls but the facts that hook is referring to are cross-referenced throughout the article.
