5x expanded by Epicgenius (talk). Self-nominated at 02:33, 1 December 2020 (UTC).

  • Another amazing article about a NYC building. This review is for ALT3 which I find the most incredible of the hooks:
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
  • Interesting: Yes
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.

QPQ: No - Not done
Overall: Epicgenius, 5x expansion began November 30. No copyvios detected. AGF as the cited page for the hook is not available online. Good image, just wish the trees were not in the way of the lower part of the building. QPQ yet to be done. All in all a great article and a catchy hook! just waiting on a QPQ. Found5dollar (talk) 18:42, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

@Found5dollar: Thanks for the quick review. I'll do a QPQ review shortly. Epicgenius (talk) 20:42, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
Don't mean to butt in @Epicgenius: but I'm surprised, at least with Christmas coming up, you didn't do a Home Alone hook for it. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 17:00, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
@The C of E: Actually, that is a good idea. Thanks for bringing it up - I'd have to think about something. There are a few things that jumped out, but none I thought were really hooky: (1) that the Plaza is one of the most filmed places in NYC, (2) that the Plaza does not have a pool contrary to what's shown in Home Alone 2, and (3) that Trump had a cameo. Epicgenius (talk) 17:04, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
So something like ...when Donald Trump owned the Plaza Hotel, he appeared at it in Home Alone 2 as a cameo? The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 17:07, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
@The C of E: Yeah, that sounds good. I added a variation of that as ALT5A - if this is approved, maybe it can go up on December 25.
@Found5dollar: Thank you for your patience. I've done a QPQ, and added ALT5 and ALT5A for your consideration. Epicgenius (talk) 18:22, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
  • New review for ALT5 and ALT5A below:
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Epicgenius, Both hooks pass the review. I personally find ALT5 hookier with "he requested a cameo in" but either works. I'm still a little iffy on the trees in the image but everything else is good to go! great job. Found5dollar (talk) 19:07, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

  • Found5dollar and Epicgenius, I'm just butting in with a suggestion: If this is scheduled for Christmas Day, why not a hook that actually mentions Christmas? For example, "... that the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is about a little boy who finds himself alone in the Plaza Hotel at Christmas?" -- MelanieN (talk) 18:54, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
    • @MelanieN: Thanks for the comment. However, even if we added it to the article with a source, that hook sounds like it's more about Home Alone 2. I feel that we might be missing out on many possible hooks about the hotel itself. Epicgenius (talk) 19:06, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but it seems a far stretch to promote ALT5/5a for Christmas because the Christmas connection is with the movie, not the hotel. ALT3 is a far better hook and would merit an image slot on any other day. Pinging reviewer Found5dollar. Yoninah (talk) 12:20, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: The reason why I suggested doing something with Home Alone 2 was because it's well known as a Christmas film and is probably the thing that will make the hook stand out the most (the addition of future President Trump in there is a bonus) in my view. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 13:25, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Alt 3, Alt 5, and Alt 5a have been reviewed and passed by me. I am indifferent to which one is used or when. I will let @Epicgenius: weigh in on what their preference is. I'm happy to review other hooks if something else is deemed more appropriate.--Found5dollar (talk) 15:55, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
  • If we're saving this specifically for Christmas, 5 and 5A may work better than 3. Otherwise, I don't really have a particular preference among these. Epicgenius (talk) 16:07, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
  • OK, ALT5 it is for Christmas Day. Restoring tick per Found5dollar's review. Yoninah (talk) 20:30, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
