Lovely readable and interesting article, on excellent sources. Deserves an image, and a hook to match. The first one is too wordy for my taste, - if you want that one, how about a burglary? No link to the Squad (if mentioned at all), - it's about a road. The second hook: a sea of blue not about the road but specific music, - if you want that explain The Stooges, mention their only gig, and drop the raw power. - The Stooges hook seemed suitable because I read the Guardian source and thought "hmm, I didn't know that" (what else is DYK for?) For everything else, the problem is that white lines, tarmac and traffic lights just aren't that exciting so a hook has to be creative. We can go with
- ALT3:
... that Pentonville Road is grouped with The Angel, Islington and Euston Road on the British Monopoly board?- but that doesn't really excite me that much and I can almost picture The Rambling Man pulling it and complaining about how hooks just aren't hooky enough anymore on WT:DYK. ALT2 is fine with me, (few) offline sources accepted AGF. You are welcome to reword ALT1, - please say at least that The Stooges are musicians (don't expect everybody to know that, - "cover" could mean a book cover), and what "shot" is here. - I certainly like Alt2, although I have a soft spot for the light blue squares on Monopoly (I used to aim for those three all the time, making that side of the board deadly for people who were just passing Go....) The Rambling Man (talk) 15:01, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- I don't. I like the browns, because people tiptoe past the minefield that is the dark blues, land on your Whitechapel Road with a hotel, and their £200 for passing go is yours instead. Dead cheap to get there as well. Of course, the dark horse in Monopoly is the oranges, because you're most likely to land of them coming out of jail. I think Google Books may be able to catch the books online, but that's more a job of the GA review, and .... meh. I'm just watching the live feed of Davy being swapped for Tezza and seeing a bit of featured content shown - Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace ....
