Papal conclave, May 1605 edit

  • ... that in 1605 Pope Paul V was considered too young to be pope a month before he was elected pope? "Pope Clement died in March 1605. Among the papabili Borghese was considered too young..." Source: [1] p. 99
    • ALT1:... that the May 1605 papal conclave was the only known papal election to result in broken bones? Source: "Elderly Cardinal Visconti suffered several broken bones, the only known case of serious injury suffered in a conclave tumult." Baumgartner p. 141 (offline)
    • ALT2 that according to Thomas Hobbes, Domenico Tosco was not elected pope in May 1605 because he used the slang word for penis too much? Source: "Cardinal Baronius, a man of integrity, intervened saying "Will you choose him [Tosco] head of the Church who cannot speak a sentence without that scurrilous byword of the Lombards ( Cazzo [a slang word for penis])?" [2]p. 35
  • Reviewed: No QPQ required. This would be the fourth credit.
  • Comment: I'm fine with any of the options. ALT2 I think is the most interesting, but 0 and 1 are good as well, IMO.

  • I'm always happy to review an article involving an occupational injury!  :-) New and long enough, within policy, Earwig detects no copyvios, QPQ not needed. All hooks check out (AGF on ALT1), though ALT2 seems a bit juvenile to me. It might read better if it actually included the word in question (cazzo). John P. • John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) Fair point on ALT2, I just thought it interesting that was the specific reason why someone wasn't elected pope! Given that critique, I think ALT1 might be the most interesting. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:11, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
