Insufficient recent expansion

Oxybenzone edit

  • ... that oxybenzone has generated much controversy as an ultraviolet A filter in sunscreens?
  • Comment: We are working on this page as a part of a class assignment. Please save this nomination for a couple days so it can be on the main page!

5x expanded by Sbash71 (talk), Dehringb (talk), WlfSprtd23 (talk). Nominated by Sbash71 (talk) at 00:29, 15 March 2014 (UTC).

  • I measured the recent expansion from edit on 17 January (6kB) to now (15kB), so it is still short 15kB for 5x expansion and no edits were performed yesterday. Five days from initial expansion will be up tomorrow. If you're still working on it, you should resubmit if/when the necessary expansion is complete, and do it quickly! • Cmprince, as long as the nomination has been submitted in time, the expansion can be a delayed; it does not have to be done by today, nor does it need to be resubmitted. The pre-expansion size was 6467 prose characters; that means that for a 5x expansion, the article will need to be 32335 prose characters, which is quite large for a Wikipedia article. Given that the current expansion so far has added fewer than 9000 characters, adding another 17000 seems daunting, but it may be feasible—I don't know the subject matter. I should note that another route is to improve the article and nominate it to be a good article; if it passes, then it can be nominated for DYK within five days of passage. • This article appears to be the subject of educational assignment. In the recent past there have been problems with chemistry articles expanded as part of class projects in which much of the added content was inaccurate, unbalanced, confusing, or otherwise problematic. I'm not saying that is necessarily the case here, but I would recommend waiting until the assignment is over and then getting input from Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemistry or Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals participants before this page is featured on the main page. -- Ed (Edgar181) 19:35, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
  • After subsequent editing, the article contains 8173 prose characters, nowhere near enough (and going in the wrong direction since March 20). It's clear that this will not gain another 24K characters, which is needed to achieve a 5x expansion, and after two weeks without progress toward said expansion, it's time to close this nomination as unsuccessful.
