Oakland Buddha

The Oakland Buddha statue and shrine.
The Oakland Buddha statue and shrine.
  • ... that after a Buddha statue (pictured) was installed in an Oakland median, neighborhood crime dropped by 82 percent?
    • ALT1:... that a Buddha statue (pictured) installed in an Oakland median was converted into a shrine which hosts daily prayer meetings?
  • Reviewed: As this is only my fourth DYK nomination, I am not yet comfortable reviewing other nominations.

  • No QPQ required and no image to review. Hook (I prefer the primary) is fantastic and inline cited to the San Francisco Chronicle which is RS. Article created August 3 so is new enough. Hook and article are NPOV. Earwig shows Violation Unlikely (3.8%). Looks good to me! Chetsford (talk) 07:18, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
  • There are now freely licensed images available for the subject, but I'm not sure how one would go about adding them to the nomination. Chetsford or anyone else, any advice? Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:36, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
  • Hey Seraphimblade, I added the first picture from the article into the photo which, for benefit of the promoter I'm confirming is correctly licensed. Can you edit this page to select an appropriate caption to replace "CAPTION HERE" and then ping me and I'll retick this? (I don't think the DYK rules permit me to write the caption myself.) Or, if you prefer the other picture or it's easier for you to suggest the caption and have me enter it just feel free to drop me a message. Thanks again for this fantastic article!
