- I just thought the picture was cute - we can ditch it. The New Zealand just mentions the Maori middens in the same sentence so to mention maori again (in the article) seemed laboured and should be implied. The source for the NZ one says Maori, the Chatham one implies it (there wasn't anyone else there...) Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 03:00, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Although the NZ source clearly links the Maori, I don't know enough about the subject to be comfortable that the Chatham ref supports the hook. - I wasn't aware of the overlapping text rule and concede it was hard digging up material. In which case I am happy to ditch the Chatham Coot and just keep the NZ one as follows as I don't have the energy to continue with this and would rather develop other articles.
