Mychel Thompson edit

  • First, a caveat: I'm not very knowledgeable in basketball, so if someone who is shows up and re-reviews, please accept their judgment over mine. I'm taking this one merely because it seems no one who is knowledgeable has gotten to it for weeks. Anyway: Expansion - qualifies; long enough - qualifies; within policy - qualifies. The only thing that bothers me is the hook. It doesn't seem "hooky" per that guideline. It doesn't seem particularly unlikely or unusual that an NBA player was a good college player (in fact it would be unusual if he weren't, right?) and it also doesn't seem superlative, since someone has to lead any given team in 3 pointers any given season, and it wasn't total score. Is it that unusual for the same person to do so 4 seasons in a row? I suspect that any given year at least a couple of players will have led their team in 3 pointers for the last several seasons, no? It also seems not quite that, even, since the article body says that in at least one of those seasons he tied for most 3 pointers. Again, if someone who is more expert in hoops shows and says it's "hooky" enough, I'll accept it. --GRuban (talk) 14:18, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
  • I think it's good enough, since four years in a row is still pretty neat. Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:45, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
May I nominate the "Carldell Johnson" article for a double-DYK with this "Mychel Thompson" article?
If there are more undrafted players, this hook may potentially be expanded to qualify for Wikipedia:Did you know/Hall of Fame#DYK hooks with 5 or more articles. Julyan Stone, on MainPage yesterday already, is not eligible, though. --PFHLai (talk) 03:23, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
I'd be fine with that, but besides Thompson, Stone, and Johnson, I only see Terrel Harris (which I created yesterday) and Ivan Johnson (basketball) which has yet to be created. Otherwise, I don't see a potential fifth one.--Giants27(T|C) 19:07, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
How about turning these guys into a list for the 5th DYK candidate? Or just the US players since 19XX (whenever the current draft rules got in place)? Just a suggestion. Lots of work, but perhaps a ticket to the HoF.... --PFHLai (talk) 04:34, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Carldell Johnson is on MainPage now. So never mind about my compound hook suggestion. --PFHLai (talk) 17:34, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
