Marikamba Temple, Sagar edit

The article was created on 11 August and nominated for DYK on 16 August, thus still within the five-day window. Currently, the prose section is 1,857 charcters long, which exceeds the minimum of 1,500. QPQ is met, and the image is correctly licenced. One problem is that at the moment, the article is not well written; I would say that it is quite confusing to read, and a number of grammatical errors need to be adressed. I think I will find some time for doing a bit of copyediting work over the next few days. Also, I dare say that I don't understand the hook in its current shape, and therefore can't verify it. Is it about one of the images (that is, paintings?) at the temple, or about the foundation myth? In one of the references for the article, [1], it reads "Legend has it that the idol of Marikamba was installed by the Adi Sankaracharya." A friendly reminder to everyone to please sign all DYK review-related posts when they add them. The article is puzzling, with no explanation of the origin of the footprints, which it desperately needs. The new ALT1 is also unclear: were the footprints established by Shankaracharya (in which case, wouldn't they be his rather than the goddess's) or somehow found by him? As ALT1 has no link or explanation that Marikamba (who is spelled as "Mariamma" or "Marikamma" in the article, but not "Marikamba"; is this the same goddess written about in the Mariamman article?) is a goddess, it doesn't work to hook the reader. (Any explanation on how the footprints were preserved?) As noted by FoxyOrange, the article as a whole needs extensive copyediting—this was not successfully addressed in the recent edits—if it is to qualify for DYK.
