Alt3 ... that Maitland Armstrong's (pictured) grandfather fought against his wife's grandfather at the Battle of Yorktown?

Alt3 is only true in the general "sides" sense (not the hand-to-hand sense) and has the unfortunate possessive 's before (pictured) but I think if the picture was lost this would be the more hooky of the hooks. Belle (talk) 14:18, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

@EEng: Date, size, refs, hook are all ok. I do wonder if a more interesting ALT couldn't be proposed - something about the subject's life, rather then his grandparents? Something about 1878 Paris Exposition Universelle or his stained glass works would probably be more catching. Actually, I kind of like the Montague-Capulet aspect of the grandfathers, but here's another

ALT6 that as Director of American Fine Arts at the 1878 Exposition Universelle in Paris, stained-glass artist Maitland Armstrong (pictured) showed former US President Ulysses S. Grant around the Exposition?

I'm guessing that Exposition Universelle goes in italics, and that "Paris" isn't part of the actual name, but perhaps others know better. EEng (talk) 14:52, 25 July 2014 (UTC) ping!

It's like 1964 New York World's Fair (so it doesn't look like he is mumbling to himself about something unconnected to the suggestion, I should say that I've changed EEng's hook). I like the family feud aspect too; I don't like this latest hook as it repeats Exposition and and mentions Armstrong's crystalline composition which is cruel as all he really wants is to be a real flesh-and-blood boy. First of all, Belle, with your froggish name I'd think you understand that Exposition Universelle goes in italics (at least, I think it does) because it's an expression étrangère. And glass isn't a crystal, it's a non-crystalline amorphous solid, so there! :P EEng (talk) 16:23, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
