Magnolia Way edit

Created by Nova Crystallis (talk). Self-nominated at 23:47, 15 June 2018 (UTC).

*New enough, long enough, neutral.
  • Well-cited. Very impressive effort to find obscure information in government PDFs.
  • The hook is short enough, cited, and interesting.
  • Good to go!Zigzig20s (talk) 05:04, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
  • Hello, I came to promote this, but the hook needs to be clarified further. As stated in the article, the road opened in 2009 to serve the plant, but due to financial issues, the plant would not open until 2011. The hook however is vague as to if the plant is still on hold or if it has since been finished. I suggest that a rewrite be done here to make it clear that the plant is now open, but did not open until sometime after the road.
In addition, I have some concerns about the hook itself: it's not really uncommon to build new roads to link to new large structures, even if the said structure's construction is later put on hold. Perhaps an alternate hook could be proposed here? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 04:26, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: Here's an improved hook:
ALT1: ... that Magnolia Way opened in 2009 to serve a manufacturing facility that opened two years later? Sources: Daily Journal and The Clarion-Ledger
It is probably the most interesting fact from the road itself, so it is unlikely there will be a better alternative than the one proposed above. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 04:49, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
I'm not really sure if this works either. I'll come back to this nomination in a few days with a fresh mind to see if it's interesting to a broad audience. That or I could as for a second opinion. Pinging original reviewer Zigzig20s. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:34, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
ALT2: ... that while Magnolia Way is officially designated as Mississippi Highway 780, the road offers no reassurance that drivers are in the right place? Yoninah (talk) 00:56, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
I will be fine with whichever one above. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 03:21, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
Review needed, once again. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 05:46, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
User:Nova Crystallis: Is it the new hook you want me to review? If so, could you please add a reference at the end?Zigzig20s (talk) 06:23, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: Google maps for ALT2. You can review ALT1 and ALT2 and see what you like best. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 06:33, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
User:Nova Crystallis: I don't understand ALT2.Zigzig20s (talk) 07:35, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: So basically, although the road is designated as Mississippi Highway 780, none of the signs on the road show it as that, but as Magnolia Way. I hope that makes it a bit easier to understand. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 04:43, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
I guess ALT2 might work, but if I was confused, our readers are bound to be too. Maybe use "road signs" instead?Zigzig20s (talk) 04:46, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: I think using that phrase would be a bit too simple, considering there is a link to the reassurance marker article. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 04:53, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
@Zigzig20s: the hook is meant to be humorous and "hooky". And, as Nova Crystallis pointed out, the word "reassurance" is linked to the real meaning of the word. Writing "road signs" would be incorrect, as there are road signs; they just don't say the road number. Yoninah (talk) 13:02, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
I guess it's fine.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:58, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
@Nova Crystallis: the only question I have about ALT2 is where does information appear in the source, which is a Google map? Yoninah (talk) 19:30, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
@Yoninah: The information appears inside Google Street View inside the site, where the signs are located near the two termini of the road. I know it is not the most reliable source it could rely on, but most road articles use the site as a backbone for descriptions. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 19:42, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
  • OK, based on the images, these do not look like reassurance markers, which are in the shape of a shield and are inscribed with the highway number. Zigzig20s could you please add a tick for ALT2? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:50, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
