La Passion selon Sade

  • Comment: The original says more of Bussotti, and the ALT goes with the pic. Sadly we have no image of Bussotti at the time. The Italian Wikipedia has one of both, it:File:Berberian and Bussotti.jpg, which would be good for both. GRuban, what do you think? - I wonder if our general readers will understand that the title, alluding to the Passion of Jesus combined with the Marquis de Sade, was regarded as a sacrilege then (and had to be changed for the next performance), but we can only hope for some education, - I see no room in a hook. - This article is dedicated to LouisAlain, in memory of great collaboration. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:57, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

  • Seems straightforward, and a much more dramatic hook, honestly.
ALT2 ... that the title of the opera La Passion selon Sade, combining the Passion of Jesus with infamous sexual deviant Marquis de Sade, caused a scandal and had to be changed for the next performance? However the image won't illustrate the hook very well - Berberian looks like a nice little old lady, not like Justine or Juliette! The one of Bussotti and Berberian will be a bit better, if deceptive, since Bussotti looks a bit like what we imagine Sade to, but didn't appear in the play as Sade! I will copy it to Commons, and drop it here when done. --GRuban (talk) 13:21, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the offer, but I think we need Bussotti's name somewhere in the hook. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:31, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

ALT3 ... that the title of Sylvano Bussotti's (pictured, with star Cathy Berberian) opera La Passion selon Sade, caused a scandal and had to be changed for the next performance?
My take:
ALT3a: ... that the "scandalous" title of La Passion selon Sade, a 1965 opera composed, directed and designed by Sylvano Bussotti with star Cathy Berberian (both pictured) had to be changed for the next performance? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:51, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
  • This article is new enough and long enough. The original image is not in the article and so cannot be used. The other image is in the public domain. Approving ALT3 and ALT3a, but I think ALT3 is better. The hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral, and I detected no copyright issues. A QPQ has been done.
