KGRE (AM)

    • ALT1:... that the current owner of Colorado radio station KGRE risked his entire savings and maxed out seven credit cards to buy the station in 1998? Source

  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I was wondering why you're saying he bought it in 1997 and turned a profit in 1997 when the newspaper source cites 1998 for both these dates? Yoninah (talk) 01:16, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: I was going off the BizWest article: "“On a scale of one to 10, we were at a minus five,” Salazar said, reflecting on Nov. 2, 1997, the day he landed in Greeley after leaving his radio consulting job in Burbank, Calif., to make the risky KGRE purchase." However, the KGRE sale app wasn't filed until 1998, so that is the correct year and I've made the correction in the article and the above hook. Raymie (tc) 03:25, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Restoring tick per Epicgenius' review. Yoninah (talk) 12:49, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
@Raymie and Yoninah: Are you sure you have made the right correction to the article? I think he bought the station in early November 1997 and it broke even by the end of the year. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:31, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: That's what I had originally thought too, but the FCC record says there was no sale filed until February 5, 1998. Raymie (tc) 06:44, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by again to promote this, but I think it needs an additional cite to confirm that Salazar is the present owner of the station. Yoninah (talk) 17:06, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Yikes, he died in 2018 (his daughter runs it now). We might have to reword the hook a bit. Something like... Raymie (tc) 18:49, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
ALT2: ... that in 1998, a buyer of Colorado radio station KGRE risked his entire savings and maxed out seven credit cards to acquire it?
  • OK. Thanks for adding the update. Yoninah (talk) 19:03, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
