  • Hi, I came by to promote this hook, but I have several questions. Firstly, the hooks should be identified by number (ALT0, ALT1, ALT2, etc.), since it is unclear which "second hook" the reviewer Векочел is approving. Secondly, and welcome to DYK, CallMeBarcode, a hook should be just that—something to reel in the reader so s/he'll click on the article. Each of these hooks tell me the whole story without my needing to click on anything. There is also a 200-character limit to hook length, although shorter is always better.
  • I went over the article and noted that the lead is too short; it should summarize key points in the article. You have such a long article; the lead should be a nice-sized paragraph. I also removed one non-reliable source, wordpress.com. Please source that paragraph with a reliable ref or remove it. Footnote 19 also needs an archive date.
  • Please suggest a shorter and snappier hook. Going over the article, for example, this line jumped out at me, although it needs an inline cite: ... that the Palestinians called Janet Lee Stevens "the little drummer girl" because of her staunch support for their cause? Please try not to pack so much information into a hook. Otherwise the reader has no reason to click on the article. ALT2 is the only one that looks hooky to me. Yoninah (talk) 17:04, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

If I go with this hook above (ALT4) assuming that you approve it and favoring something shorter as Yoninah suggested, then what do I do next to continue this and prevent the DYK nomination from going stale? Thanks for your help.

@CallMeBarcode: @Felixkrater: @Yoninah: actually, sorry to be a pain, but I think the drummer girl hook needs a bit of a reword. It is unclear to me why having "staunch support" for the Palestinians would lead to the title "the little drummer girl". What aspect of drumming is being referred to? Another book talks of "strongly voiced" opinions so perhaps it's that? Not sure, but probably needs a bit of thought. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 21:13, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

And someone who just keeps beating the drum for the cause, never gives up. I'd ask if it were an Americanism but in this woman's case Palestinians were using it the same way. --valereee (talk) 19:28, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

I'm still not convinced that the two points about staunch support and being a drummer girl is obvious, but I'm happy to concede the point if you guys are OK with it.
