- Suggestions:
- Do we want to include in the article that is was also second tallest in Latin America?
- It translated for me as the "largest" (volume of material in the dam) which probably isn't true with the size of other long embankment dams in Latin America. Second tallest isn't true either. There are two taller dams in Colombia at least; another in Mexico, one in Honduras.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:28, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Do we want to mention the official name in the lead?
- Juscelino Kubitschek Power Plant is just the name of the power plant which some sources include the dam in (as opposed to being separate). Irapé is the common name overall and is even used by the owner, CEMIG. I don't think the official name of the power plant should be used, especially when we are just referring to the dam.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:28, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Issues:
- When construction started with dams can be confusing at times. Some sources use the date that bridge, worker housing, foundation and diversion tunnel building began while others use the day that the actual dam construction began. For these sources, I went with the earliest figuring preliminary works such as road and bridge building along with river diversion and foundation work. The source is translated somewhat poorly so I will go with the CEMIG source that states September 2002. "Civil" could mean any of the works but at least its reliable.
