Not even a 2x expansion, not enough to IAR

Hu Chunhua

edit
  • Comment: ALT1 ... that Inner Mongolia party chief Hu Chunhua does not want the region to blindly pursue GDP growth?
This is an article that is long overdue on Wikipedia - largely because of systemic bias. His political profile in China is something like that of Marco Rubio, and he is expected to become one of China's major leaders in ten years. Pity that his article was, until today, only a stub.

  • It is not a five-fold expansion.Thelmadatter (talk) 01:23, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
    • Thank you for your review. Here's my reasoning of why this article qualifies. 1. there was a significant expansion of the article - such that the before-and-after states are substantially different. 2. the pre-expansion article was already relatively large. A five-fold expansion would yield 30,000 bytes, which is unreasonable for the subject. 3. the pre-expansion state had things such as infoboxes, succession tables, etc. There was not substantive content. That should also be considered a mitigating circumstance. 4. The article's expansion serves the spirit and nature of DYK. If we are so incredibly inflexible in this instance, then I will accept that "rules are rules." But a little bird tells me that we're allowed to break them. Colipon+(Talk) 01:33, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
  • This is one of the most basic rules DYK has: that the prose in an existing article must expand to 5x its starting size in order to qualify. The only exception is a biography of a living person that is completely unsourced, in which case a 2x expansion is sufficient. There were eight citations in the article before you began working on it, so 5x is required.
This article expanded from 2696 characters of prose to 6753 characters of prose, or an expansion of 4057 characters to 2.5x its original size. A similar expansion in number of characters was done for a May 2 article, "Raining Men", which went from 5824 characters to 9757 characters, an expansion of 3933 characters, though not even an increase to 2x. It, too, has been rejected. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:55, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
