Henry Dircks edit

  • ... that Henry Dircks created a better quality of ghost than those before him?

Created/expanded by Violetriga (talk). Self nom at 12:23, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

  • Everything checks out but the hook, which is a bit of a clunker, grammatically. Perhaps "invented a better ghost" would work. It would be nice if Pepper's ghost can be worked in the hook as well, and/or the idea that Pepper would have stolen Dircks's ghost. Drmies (talk) 03:05, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Well grammatically it's fine, albeit slightly dated in tone. Alternatives include:
  • ALT1 ... that Henry Dircks used his improved ghost to dispel the myths of others?
  • ALT2 ... that Henry Dircks created a ghost to prove that others could not?
  • ALT3 ... that Henry Dircks believed his ghost to be a triumph of enlightenment over superstition?
  • One of those should work, if not the initial suggestion. violet/riga [talk] 09:34, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't believe it's fine--"quality of" with a noun that would ordinarily take an article is clunky. But that's beside the point. I like ALT2 best--in fact, I like it a lot. OK, I really like it a lot. I hope you get lots of hits. Drmies (talk) 14:54, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
