Hans-Joachim Lang edit

Created by N0TABENE (talk) and Prairieplant (talk). Nominated by Prairieplant (talk) at 11:34, 30 March 2016 (UTC).

  • I could not find the article at first, then I realized it's still at Draft:Hans-Joachim Lang, and the draft is written by N0TABENE, not by the nominator as claimed. Not eligible yet, renominate when the article is reviewed and moved to mainspace. -Zanhe (talk) 06:14, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
  • And was he infamous 70 years ago? EEng 23:53, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
I shall put good faith in this nomination, even when it's not moved to mainspace yet. I still consider it new... but not ready yet. Rejecting it based on being on "Draft" namespace is not a valid reason to reject this nomination and then force a re-nomination. Also, the draft is under review (but backlogged) to be accepted into main namespace. Let's give the nomination some time, like a week or a month probably. George Ho (talk) 00:20, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
Changing the icon, while awaiting the article's move to mainspace. There's nothing to re-review at the moment. -Zanhe (talk) 00:27, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
(Starting proper review now that the draft has been accepted) Article is new enough, long enough, neutral, and well referenced. ALT1 is interesting, neutral, and confirmed with cited sources. ALT0 is too long and ambiguous, as noted by EEng above. My main concern with the article is that the "Biography" section is way too brief, while more than half of the article is given to a description of the Jewish skeleton collection. As that topic has its own article, and this article is mainly about the historian, the section should be merged into the main article and summarized here. On the other hand, the "Biography" section should be expanded (some extra info is available from de-wiki). -Zanhe (talk) 17:27, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
Zanhe More info was included in the article by myself and User:Prairieplant, including additional fact from the de-wiki article regarding his rejection of a prize for courageous journalism. I omitted that he received a Masters degree in 1976, because the reference in the de-wiki article has nothing to do with Hans-Joachim Lang; it is a comparison between the linguist epistemology between BF Skinner and Noam Chomky that was published (not authored) by "Robert Lang Publishing". There is no other source for that info. The article was also reformatted with more info on his additional works. There is no other publicly available biographical info on either the de-wiki or fr-wiki sites, nor from the University where he teaches, nor from his publisher, nor any other online source. This DYK nomination seems to fulfill all of the requirements for a DYK, and this review should be based on those criteria, not criteria for classification of the article. Thanks for the expansion. I still think the article contains too much info about Jewish skeleton collection. While not irrelevant, the topic is well covered in its own article. (For comparison, we don't devote half of James Watson to explaining the structure of DNA, or half of Charles Darwin to the workings of natural selection.) However, being focused is a requirement for GA, not for DYK, and even excluding the somewhat off-topic content, the article now meets the length requirement, so the nomination is good to go. -Zanhe (talk) 00:00, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
