Grade II* listed buildings in Coventry edit

Christchurch Steeple, Coventry

Created/expanded by HJ Mitchell (talk), Rock drum (talk). Nominated by HJ Mitchell (talk) at 22:36, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

  • New: Good. Length: Good, even taking account that it's a list. Policy: I'm not sure about that reference columns. Why aren't the sources just cited in-line within the relevant cell of the table? Abyssal (talk) 17:53, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
  • OK, everything else is looking passable, although the hook is 207 characters. If we ignore the "(pictured)" parenthesis like we probably should the hook can barely squeak by, but for the sake of this nomination being better than the bare minimum I think the hook should be condensed. Abyssal (talk) 20:48, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Switching "in a World War II air raid" for "in World War II" would shave 11 characters off—bringing it comfortably within the 200 excluding the (pictured) and just under including it. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:26, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
  • "in World War II" seems stifled... how about "in a 1941 air raid". Although I would rework it as... that Christchurch Steeple (pictured), the surviving part of a 13th-century friary destroyed during World War II, is now a popular bar and one of 24 Grade II* listed buildings in Coventry --Errant (chat!) 11:10, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Wait, shouldn't that be "damaged during World War II"? Abyssal (talk) 13:30, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
  • This is a DYK nom, not an FAC. There's nothing wrong with the hook I originally proposed, and if seven characters including (pictured) is really that big-a-deal I've proposed an alternative. Please just approve this. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:14, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
  • With the addition of some formatting, I approve the following ALT WHATEVER: "... that Christchurch Steeple (pictured) was originally part of a 13th-century friary, was mostly destroyed during World War II and is now a bar and one of 24 Grade II* listed buildings in Coventry?"
  • Who is "I"? There have been far too many unsigned DYK approvals lately, and it has to stop. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:49, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  • In DYK, we give reasonable deference to the nominator's preference of a hook. There is no reason not to here, though the unsigned Abyssal has ignored HJ Mitchell's stated preference in favor of Abyssal's own previous proposal. I am striking that one (plus all others, to avoid confusion, since they all had issues), and approving HJ Mitchell's final proposal (properly formatted):
