This is a great article, and very interesting hook. It meets nearly all the criteria: long enough, neutral, well-sourced, appropriate hook length etc. But it doesn't seem to have been expanded 5x. The prose portion of the last version before May 23 was ~700 words / ~4000 characters long; the total article size was 8,665 bytes. Currently, the prose portion is ~2,500 words / ~15,000 characters long; the total article size is 27,747 bytes. So, the expansion is around 3x to 4x. HappyWaldo has done amazing work in completely transforming this article. Unfortunately, the DYK rules require the expansion to be at least 5x (or 2x is the BLP was completely unsourced before the expansion, which is not the case here). That said, I think this article deserves to be featured on DYK. @HappyWaldo: I'd suggest nominating this article at WP:GAN. Once it becomes a Good Article, it'll meet the DYK criteria, and you can re-nominate it here. utcursch | talk 02:51, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

- Actually, HappyWaldo, if you're going to continue to flesh out the article, you're very close to a 5x expansion. According to DYKcheck, the article had 4009 prose characters prior to the beginning of your expansion (prose characters are all that matter for DYK), and it is at 18097 prose characters right now. A 5x expansion would require 20045 prose characters, or an additional 1948, for this nomination to qualify. Of course, you can always go the GA route instead, but I suspect that it will not be difficult for you to continue expanding the article to 20045 characters. - Thanks for the update. I'm still in the process of researching his role in the cricket riot. It's one of the pivotal moments not only in his career but cricket history so I want to get it right before the DYK gets the green light. Full review needed now that a further expansion has been done, and the article is now at 21816 prose characters according to DYKcheck, making it a 5x expansion over the previous 4009 prose character size even though DYKcheck isn't capable of going back more than 500 edits to check (and HappyWaldo's expansion has involved more edits than that).
