• Article is long enough, and the hook is sourced in the article and at least partially confirmed in the online source, AGF on the offline one. It's a fairly bland hook in my opinion, it would be a very common story for many footballers, but it may be of interest to some. The only thing is the date, though nominated on 12 September, it was created on 8 September. It would still be in date, but perhaps should be moved to the correct date. • Moved to correct date. To make the hook more interesting, do you think it would be worth mentioning that Pearson played as a defender, a position not commonly associated with players who score long-range free kicks? Mattythewhite (talk) 16:58, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

• On the article at the correct date, partly confirmed hook on online source, AGF on offline. It does sound a bit more interesting to have defenders scoring goals, though that he was playing in the defensive position in that match would need adding and citing in the article. I don't like to reject hooks on how interesting they are or not, since it's a bit subjective, but a promoting DYK checker may feel differently, so feel free to propose an alt along those lines if you wish.
