Dull hook; there are a lot of mountains in the world of which this is true. Also, you didn't tell us where this mountain is. I suggest instead:
ALT1:... that there are so many cairns on Froze-to-Death Mountain in Montana's Beartooth Mountains that the U.S. Forest Service warns hikers not to follow them?
I did some cleanup on the prose, other than that ...
