Elinor Otto edit

  • ... that the "Last Rosie the Riveter", Elinor Otto, built airplanes for almost 50 years, and worked on every single C-17 plane at the Boeing plant?
  • ALT1:... that the "Last Rosie the Riveter", Elinor Otto, built airplanes for almost 50 years, and retired at the age of 95?
  • Comment: I have less than 5 DYK nominations, therefore am exempt from QPQ

  • DYK checklist template
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes
  • Interesting: Yes
  • Other problems: No - n

QPQ: No - n/a
Overall: Article is long enough, at 1846 characters. It is cited, neutral in POV, and new enough. As it is the nominator's second DYK nomination, no QPQ is required. However, there is factual error in both article and the ALT0 hook. The C-17 aircraft began being built in 1991, and has not been around for 48 years. A re-read of the source reveals misinterpretation of the info given. Otto worked in the building where they assemble the C-17 for some 48 years. For that reason, I struck out ALT0, though it could be rewritten and resubmitted as ALT2. ALT1 is good to go once correction is made in body of article. I should like to see the necessary corrections made and the article run as DYK because it is fascinating. It's unfortunate that this was submitted too late for Women's History Month.Georgejdorner (talk) 16:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much for your thorough review. I looked over the source and misinterpreted the information. I just changed that line in the article now. Mchuedem (talk) 17:04, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
  • New enough, long enough, cited, neutral, hook corrected, good to go.Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 19:09, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Removed 'question' symbol because concerns were addressed. As I read the source, Ms Otto reported for work in the same building for 48 years...a rather mind-boggling factoid. GTG indeed.Georgejdorner (talk) 01:31, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
