Edward Habershon (architect)

edit
  • Comment: I have a busy life and am running out of time for this nomination so although the article is OK (I think), it isn't quite ready for DYK, i.e. a sentence and ref backing up the hook needs to be put in the article header, and I'll do that in the next couple of days. I also need to add the image to the article. Any assistance or advice here would be welcome!

Created by Storye book (talk). Self nominated at 11:21, 17 October 2013 (UTC).

  • Update: I have now added a sentence and refs in the header to support the hook, so that bit is done. I would also like to replace the image with File:St Andrews Church Queens Road Hastings 004.jpg as it gives a better idea of Habershon's high gothic style, which fits in with the idea of the mural. A more interesting hook might have been Habershon's involvement in the relocation of London's burial grounds, but the ref for that is a printed book and there are no online refs - not sure whether that would be permissible for DYK? --Storye book (talk) 20:43, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
  • I'm happy with Alt 1 if others agree. --Storye book (talk) 18:56, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Update: I have today reviewed 4 DYK noms: Vestfold Line, Horten Line, Horten Station, Meat Weed Madness. --Storye book (talk) 10:53, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
  • Full review needed. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:08, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Hook is interesting and article is long enough. It was nominated 85 minutes outside the 5-day time limit but supplementary rule D9 suggests this can be overlooked. Article has a good, comprehensive use of inline citations and has no noticeable problems. If we are going with ALT1, I've commented-out the image which is no longer relevant. The problem I see is that the facts in the hook aren't cited in the article, other than "In 1862 he was involved in the relocation of London's burial grounds" in the lede paragraph. Am I missing something or do the full facts in the hook need to be added to the body of the article? Sionk (talk) 23:53, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the prompt and for kindly overlooking the 85 minutes. The hook was indeed mentioned twice in the article - in the header and under the "career" subheading. To make sure you don't miss it I've added a boxed quotation from the cited book. I should add that the quotation is also in the Wiki article about the graveyard, which is linked in the hook (London Necropolis Railway#Relocation_of_London_burial_grounds . and that is why I had hesitated to put it in this article as well (though I guess I could remove it after its DYK moment). --Storye book (talk) 08:17, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
The Necropolis Railway is still not mentioned. Maybe a better hook would be ALT 2: ... that Edward Habershon was involved in the 1862 relocation of London's burial grounds, moving more than one hundredweight of human remains? Sionk (talk) 11:06, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Alt 2 is fine by me, so I have struck out the other hooks. If you re settled on Alt 2, I'll put it in the header of the article. --Storye book (talk) 21:48, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
In that case, DYK nomination is good to go with ALT 2 hook. Sionk (talk) 21:53, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
  • New reviewer needed to check ALT2 hook, since reviewers can't approve their own hooks, especially when any new facts are introduced. (I see two: 1862 and hundredweight.) BlueMoonset (talk) 23:22, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT 3: ... that the architect Edward Habershon was involved in the 1862 relocation of London's burial grounds, moving more than one hundredweight of human remains? - just adds "the architect"; it's too odd a summary of his life otherwise. Johnbod (talk) 14:39, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
  • I changed Johnbod's version, above, to Alt 3 to avoid confusion. I'm happy with that version.--Storye book (talk) 15:21, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Still need that new reviewer to check the ALT hooks. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:29, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Article is new enough, long enough, well-referenced. (I removed several unreliable references from ancestry.com and free bmd, but these do not affect the sourcing in the article.) No close paraphrasing seen. QPQ done. The ALT3 hook is sourced to an offline citation; however, the page creator has quoted the source in full, leading me to approve this AGF. ALT3 good to go.
