Dog Star Adventure edit

Created by Maury Markowitz (talk). Self-nominated at 15:35, 6 July 2016 (UTC).

  • A very fun and interesting read!, even though I'm not a fan of text-code games like this. I'd complain that the "Basis for later games" section is a bit Guide-ish. However, it is actually important to include this given that this is how all text-based games would be programmed later on, and this is the first known text-based game, so it makes sense. No possible copyright violation, QBQ checks, article is cited with reliable sources and well-written. Looks good to go. editorEهեইдအ😎 20:44, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
Any preferences on the hooks? Maury Markowitz (talk) 19:36, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
I'd say choose the first one since its the strongest and the other three aren't in the article? editorEهեইдအ😎 20:26, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
Works for me! Maury Markowitz (talk) 21:43, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
  • I came to promote this, but I cannot find the hook fact in the source cited. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:29, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: The cite is right in the lede. Cite #1. Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:34, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
I see the cite and I have read the source cited twice now but it does not support your hook; it states that this game was written in Basic and that the source code was printed in the magazine, and it states the source code was an inspiration to other game text writers. It does not state that it was the "first" text adventure game to be published in source code form. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:45, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

@Cwmhiraeth: Ha! I edited the right cite out at some point. I've added two. Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:47, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

  • One of those added sources looks a bit dubious, but the other is probably OK, and altogether, I think the hook fact has been established. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:00, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
